Lord Carlile “A Great Deal of Damage Has been done to Liberty”

I don’t want to use the word “terror” for this; simply it has list its weight due to its overuse by Western sources. This is a horror. I refer to the US Transportation Security Administration systematic violation of the basic principles of the law in American airports. The TSA enforces full body scan and aggressive, no voluntary, pat-down procedures.

Thomas Sawyer, a bladder cancer survivor using a urostomy bag since a surgery three years ago, said a TSA agent at Detroit Metropolitan Airport caused the seal of the bag to open partially during a pat down, spilling urine on his clothes. Physical invasions and violations of privacy had become so severe that protesters are calling the day before Thanksgiving "National Opt-Out Day," urging travelers who are selected for the full body scan to refuse the procedure.

These are not only violations if basic human rights by the American government. They are also violations of the most basic principle of law: everybody is innocent unless proven otherwise. The TSA - and thus the American government - behaves as if everybody was a criminal in need to constantly prove his innocence.

”This is hysterical nonsense!” John Pistole (what a name! Would his successor be George Gunmachine?) the Head of the TSA would probably exclaim if reading the last paragraph. Is that so? On an interview to the BBC in November 24, 2010, Lord Carlile QC, the Independent Reviewer of Anti-Terrorism Legislation for the UK, said while referring to this legislation that “a great deal of damage has been done to liberty.” He expanded on the discriminatory and disproportionate behavior of the UK and the USA defining them as a fundamental assault on basic liberties and specifying that racial profiling is unacceptable. The expected result of his shocking review is the change of the actual antidemocratic, draconian laws – though only in the UK.

Americans – as a society, not as individuals – do not respect human rights. The TSA behavior shows that in the internal level. More important is that Americans do not respect the human rights of others. Who gave America the right to transform Laos into the most heavily bombed country (per capita) in the history of the world? I beg Americans to visit these kind people and see for themselves the crimes of the American government there. Who gave America the right to use nuclear bombs against a civilian population? In 1945, the American government attacked atrociously women and children in their homes; Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed. Who gave America the right to murder hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis? All these weird, violent, brutal actions – and many more – were never justified and violated the lives of millions around the world.

Yet, if the victims answer the attacks, they’ll be called “communists, “terrorists” or whatever derogatory term is in vogue and illegally sent to Guantanamo or secret prisons in Eastern Europe in clear violation of their human rights and the constitutions of the aggressor countries.

America, look at your violence. Look at your crazed TV shows and insane movies. Look at your street violence, at the cameras in buses, streets, coffee shops and tea houses. Look at your constant, systematic and unjustified violence against almost everybody on this planet. Look at your questionable election processes and your highly biased media. Look at the millions around the world living in forced poverty due to enforced unfair trade agreements. Look at them and do not preach to us.

Didn’t you, the people, just oppose tyranny in 1776? Or was it 1984?
